আমেরিকার উটাহ ভ্যালি ইউনিভার্সিটিতে তার পরিচালিত আমেরিকান কামব্যাক ট্যুরে বক্তৃতার সময় অজ্ঞাত পরিচয় আততায়ীর গুলিতে নিহত হয়েছেন চার্লি কার্ক। কার্ক হলেন আমেরিকায় উগ্র শ্বেতাঙ্গবাদী রাজনীতির পোস্টারবয় এবং স্বাভাবিকভাবেই ট্রাম্প ঘনিষ্ঠ। খবরটি দাবানলের মতো সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় ছড়িয়ে পড়তেই নেটিজেনরা মূলত কয়েকটি ভাগে ভাগ হয়ে গেছে এবং এর বাইরে ট্রাম্প এবং অন্যান্য রিপাবলিকান নেতারা তাদের দীর্ঘ ঐতিহ্য বজায় রেখে এর মধ্যে অতিবামপন্থী রাজনৈতিক ষড়যন্ত্র খুঁজে পেয়েছেন এবং কার্ককে কার্যত জাতীয় শহীদের মর্যাদা দিয়ে দিয়েছেন। যদিও এতে আশ্চর্য হওয়ার কিছুই নেই, আমেরিকায় দীর্ঘদিনের বিতর্কিত গান ল্য এর প্রসঙ্গে কার্ক সাহেব বলেছিলেন এটি আমেরিকানদের ইশ্বর প্রদত্ত অধিকার সেকেন্ড অ্যামেন্ডমেন্ট রক্ষার জন্য আবশ্যক, তাই গান ভায়োলেন্স এর মত নিছকই ক্ষুদ্র কোলাটেরাল ড্যামেজকে (প্রসঙ্গত ২০২৩ সালে ৬৫৬ টি ও ২৪' এ মোট ৫০৩ টি মাস শুটিং এর ঘটনা ঘটেছে) ব্যাজার মুখে মেনে নিতে হবে।যদিও আয়রনি এখানেই শেষ হচ্ছে না, বরং এই ঘটনায় আয়রনি আক্ষরিক অর্থেই আয়রনির একাধিক স্তর উন্মোচন করেছে। কার্কের মৃত্যুর ঘট...

                            গোধূলি ত্বক, অপলক, ছেঁড়া কথার মাঝে গহন শূন্যতা। মলিনতার স্থূল ইতিবৃত্ত, রঙ চটে যাওয়া হাসির ব্যঞ্জনা। পঞ্চেন্দ্রিয় নিস্পলক, ফুরিয়ে যাওয়া চেনা মুখ,দীর্ঘশ্বাস বারবার। হাওয়া বয়ে যায়, আলো আর অন্ধকারের মাঝে ধূসর আস্তরণের দুপুর আর বিকেল, অবসন্ন জানালার ধারে বেড়াল এক পা দুই পা করে দৃষ্টির সীমানা ছাড়িয়ে ফিরে আসে; বছরের মাঝে দুই চারদিন লোডশেডিং, শীতের শিশির হয়ে নিঝুম শব্দেরা চারপাশে, নিরন্তর। পূর্বপুরুষের লণ্ঠন হয়ে মোমবাতি ফিরে আসে, আঁধারের সাঁঝবেলায় জন্মান্তর, পোকায় কাটা হলুদ পাতা। ঘাসজমিতে কলরব, ঝিঁঝিঁ পোকা, ঘড়ির কাঁটা, ক্লান্ত দিন।
